Quick and Easy Backlinks to Your Website

quick seo tip getting backlinks

Backlinks are an important component to improving your website’s placement on search engine result pages. Use these SEO tips for your Fuquay-Varina business website and watch your position improve.

Google’s Panda update in February 2011 did a lot to minimize the influence of many irrelevant backlinks that were out there on the web. Previously, and in a basic sense, both the quality and quantity of backlinks were able to influence your search engine results. So, lots of businesses big and small went on a link buying spree – getting links from any page that would give it. With the Panda update, Google devalued links from low quality or thin sites and/or sites that just weren’t relevant to the site the were linking too. As a result many websites who bought links took a quick nose dive and today many still struggle to recover.

My goal for you is to build links from quality websites that are that are relevant to your website.

While an all out link building campaign can take great effort, time and money to bring results, you can start building backlinks to your website with just a little time and effort. Here’s how…

Make Time In Your Schedule To Build Backlinks

Set aside a little time on a weekly basis that you plan to engage in your link building activities.  30 minutes will be all you’ll need but be sure to plan a time for it!

Build Directory Listings

Directory listings are an excellent way to build backlinks to your website.  There are many reputable directories such as Merchant Circle, Manta, Local.com to name a few. All have free and paid levels of membership and for now – go for the free ones.  Signing up and creating a full profile including your business name, physical address, website address, contact information, logo and pictures will take about 15-20 minutes for each.

Many of the bigger directories are used pretty heavily so having a presence there helps people find you and the backlink, whether is a follow or nofollow (subject for another article) doesn’t matter – links are good especially if they help people find you.

Write Guest Blog Posts on Other Websites

If you like to write this is an excellent way to build backlinks to your website. You have specific and marketable knowledge right? Sure you do. Well, find another business in your local area or region that is complimentary to yours and work out a blog exchange with them. You write a great blog post relevant to their audience/website and they provide one for yours.  Place a keyword optimized link in the body and footer of the article and bingo – good backlinks are had by all.

Links in Social Media Profiles Influence Search Engine Results

Posting links in your social media profiles is about the easiest way to get backlinks to your website. Social signals do influence search results but also these links have an added benefit of being “RIGHT THERE” – your brand in the feed of those who follow you and ripe for clicking. So, write good content on your website and blog and make sure you Tweet it, Facebook it, post on LinkedIn and surely share it on Google+.  However, if you have a lot of the same followers on each of these networks I don’t recommend posting to all at the same time. Spread it out a little or you may annoy some followers.
